Triton Chicago's Story

Triton Chicago was founded by Joe Wortell in 2015. At the age of 8 years old, Joe walked into an old fashioned, one chair barbershop called Andy’s Barbershop. In that moment, he knew what he wanted to do. Joe loved the nostalgic feel and history of the shop. He was infatuated with the various tools and accessories the barber used. He began collecting many different vintage barber and grooming items.
When Joe turned 18 he attended barber school in Chicago, IL. After school, Joe apprenticed with an old Italian barber honing and crafting his skills, but he had to learn more. Joe tracked down the last surviving protege from the almost lost “Jay Sebring Method” (who lost his life to the Mansion family in 1969) to learn a superior hair cutting method. Joe was able to learn from him and grow his skills. Joe also became proficient in the Vidal Sassoon and Roffler razor cutting techniques.
After cutting in various barbershops, Joe suffered from a shoulder injury that required surgery, leaving him unable to cut hair for the time being. This is when he turned his focus into creating stands for shaving brushes and razors. Unsatisfied with the low quality plastic and metal stands available, he decided to design and produce exceptional stands. Made from high quality laser cut stainless and cold rolled steel, manufactured right here in Chicago. After countless prototypes and designs, he came out with a line that he is truly proud of.
